February 21st
A novel event took place this evening, as we had been asked to judge the entries for the Burnley Film Makers’ competition. There were sixteen films divided into five categories: Holiday/Travelogue; Documentary; Story; Miscellaneous, and the One Minute Film. All the films were of a high standard, so choosing the category winners was no easy task; but it was an enjoyable one, which was spread over two of our meetings. Eventually after much discussion, we managed to select the winning films - which will not be revealed until the next issue of the Newsletter! However, here is the list of entries and their respective categories:
In the Holiday/Travelogue section we had: Campervan Diary; Bulgaria Secrets and Iona Cruise Ship. In section two, Documentary, were four entries: Stoodley Pike; Last Clarion House; Sagpao Familia and School days at Powys Castle. In the Story category was The Claw; Kennedy Park and Strangled The Miscellaneous category featured Horsey at Shap; Who Made This Hole; Epic Adventure and Back to the Past.
There were just two entries in the One Minute Film category: Dad Knows Best and Watching You.
As I said, the standard of film making was quite high and there was much discussion as to which were the best entries. The final decisions were made at our 13th March meeting, but every entry was a worthy effort.
That brings this edition of the newsletter to a close, so it only remains for me to remind you - if you haven’t already - that you should remove your 3D glasses before you leave the house.
I’ll be back with another issue of your Newsletter very soon!
