On Tuesday the 28th May we paid another visit to Bolton Moviemakers where we were treated to another one of their excellent showreels.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any screenshots available to print, but suffice it to say that it was a highly entertaining evening with the Bolton group who are a great crowd!
I don’t have a record of a meeting on the 29th May, but I suspect that was the evening when the Mosses Centre was closed due to an electrical fault.
On Sunday the 2nd June, Phil and myself made another one of our regular visits to Ellenroad Mill in Milnrow, near Rochdale, which on this occasion featured a pottery display. There were disappointingly few items on show, so we didn’t film anything, although we did make a contact with one of the potters, a lady from Heywood, with a view to visiting her workshop and filming her working there at some point. We also had the good fortune to meet Peter Gray who was filming there with a colleague of his. We soon got into a conversation about filming and we invited Peter to come along to the Mosses on the following Wednesday. Happily, he did just that and subsequently joined our happy band - even though the meeting of the 5th June consisted of digging into the dreaded cupboard again and showing some of our old films. Peter was literally thrown in at the deep end - pardon the pun -because on Sunday 9th June, he agreed to join me in filming at the first post-covid meeting of the Bury Metro Marine Modelling Society Open Day, where a spectacular collection of model boats were on display.
It proved to be a grand day out for all ages as can be seen from the pictures opposite, and in addition, we were able to secure some great interviews with the model boat builders. The footage that Peter and I shot is currently being edited by Barry Aldous.
From model boats at Clarence Park, we go to Tuesday 11th June, when Phil and I gave a show in the Church Hall at Seedfield, Bury. The show was very well received and resulted in a modest donation to the Society.
