Film ideas
Shortly after Paul had become a member, he brought us an idea for a project that proved to be very interesting: making a film about the hazards that deaf and hard-of-hearing people face on an every day basis as they go about their lives, shopping or going to work.
On Friday 5th July, we met up with two of Paul’s friends to discuss what would be required and this proved to be a very fruitful meeting.
Another item that will be of interest is a long-term filming project that we have undertaken. Rochdale Company of Archers, who are currently based at the premises of Rochdale Rugby Club, have long wanted to secure their own archery field and club house. Late last year, they successfully completed the purchase of land in Ashworth Valley on which they intend to establish a permanent archery field and indoor range. I suggested to them that a filmed record of the land clearing and building, from start to finish, would be of great interest to their current - and future - members. They thought this would be a good idea, too. It will probably be a two-year project until completion, and in fact, I have already made several trips to the new site and have filmed some of the initial clearing work and construction of the outdoor range - some pictures below from January this year; top left, site of the indoor range and clubhouse; top right, the car park; bottom left, the outdoor range; and bottom right, current, camera shy, woolly occupants.
You could describe it as a work in progress - but it definitely is progressing; they had their inaugural outdoor shoot on the new range on the 19th October.
I’ll add more pictures as the work continues in future issues of the Newsletter. In the meantime, that’s all for this issue.
I must apologise, too, for getting a little bit behind with the Newsletter, lately - just busy doing other Society stuff as well - but I promise I will catch up soon!
See you in the next one!
